Bonsai Taiwan
Taiwan finally opened up to welcome visitors from abroad without quarantine from 13Oct22. Haven't seen my family and friends for nearly three years so I decided to travel back to Taiwan to see them.
I visited the vice chairman of the Taiwan Bonsai Association Jack Lin and joined one of his lessons held at his home with a couple of his students.
I also visited one of the top bonsai judges & famous bonsai artist in Taiwan Zijing Yan who operates a nursery in the Taipei Bonsai Village.
I then travelled down south to the county of Changhua to see the president of the Wangjing Art Garden Tsang-Shing Chen, who hosted Taiwan BCI 2017 Convention & 14th Asia-Pacific Bonsai & Viewing Stone Convention & Exhibition.
After that I was taken to a nursery run by one of the Taiwan's famous bonsai artists, ZhuYu Lin who has won lots of 1st prizes in bonsai competitions.
My last visit before I headed back to Taipei was a friend Quanji Lin whose garden Liu Yuan where he keeps lots beautiful big bonsai.
I headed to the famous Jianguo holiday flower market in Taipei as soon as I got off the bullet train but was told I have missed it's 40th anniversary celebration the weekend before. Luckily two Americans Paul and Mark had done a report on YouTube that I have a link to share with you.
I did go back to pay Jack Lin a visit before I left for home. He has a stand in Jianguo flower market every fortnightly teaching how to create bonsai and has his YouTube channel of bonsai tutorial in English.
