Southend Bonsai Society Spring Show
Ashingdon Memorial Hall, Ashingdon Road, Rochford, Essex. SS4 3HF.
The show consisted of 30+ individual trees, Shohin displays, Suiseki, and Wire Bonsai. The quality of trees and accents displayed is to be highly commended.
Dave and Mick from Ipswich Bonsai Society were asked to judge the show, and two awards were presented for Best Deciduous Tree which was presented to Pam Young, for her, Trident Maple, and for Best; Evergreen Tree which was presented, once again, to Pam Young for her Privet. Huge congratulations to Pam.

In addition to the two awards above, members of the public visiting the show, were asked to vote for their favourite tree, and a very special award has been introduced, the ‘Tommy Lee Memorial Trophy’, which will be presented, to Barry Gatt, for his Yew. Many congratulations to Barry.

All the members who assisted with the setup of the display tables, and assisted the members of the public with any questions throughout the day and helped to break down the display after the show had closed.
Dave and Linda, for providing a selection of trees, pots and tools for sale and for running the sales table.
Linda, Norma, Margaret, and Jane for providing the sweet and savoury selection of snacks and for running the refreshments counter.

The attendance exceeded all expectations mostly thanks to the efforts of Mark and the members for publicising the event through; Social Media, Show Flyers, UKBA event listing, and by word of mouth at UK expo and other events leading up to our show. We’re hoping to continue the upward trend in attendance at our next show(s). Please put the following dates in your diaries:
October 1st, when the club will be putting on a display at the Heathrow Show, in Bracknell
October 22nd, when we will be holding our Autumn show in Ashingdon Memorial and Community Hall.
