National Bonsai Society 50th Anniversary Show
Southport Eco Visitor Centre, Esplanade, Southport. PR8 1RX.
On Friday and Saturday 2nd/3rd June the National Bonsai Society successfully held their 50th anniversary show at the Eco Visitors Centre, Southport.
The show was staged over the two days with approximately 60 individual bonsai on display, including the fabulous NBS larch forest coastal scene, which always draws particular attention from the general public. As part of the show Mami, Shohin and Chuhin sized bonsai were laid out with accent plants on temporary tables with backdrops scenes and stand-alone columns for specimen trees.
Thank you to all the members who took part and contributed their time and trees for the exhibition and to help set up and take down the stands and to steward the display. Also, a big thanks goes to the staff of the Eco centre and to the NBS committee for the organisation the event.
The National Bonsai Society was the very first designated bonsai society to be formed in the UK back in June 1973 and although it has had it’s ups and downs due to covid etc, the club can boast to have one of the strongest memberships in the country with over 50 members.
The annual NBS bonsai show has increasingly brought the art of bonsai direct to the public’s eye and has helped generate new members recently and hopefully will continue to do so in the future.
Thank You
