Dragon Bonsai Spring Show
Aberglasney Gardens, Llangathen, Carmarthenshire, Wales. SA32 8QH.
Dragon Bonsai held their Spring show at the Mansion House, Aberglasney Gardens over the weekend of 11th 12th March.
Club members set up the show on Friday afternoon, and by 4pm everything was ready.
Despite the poor weather, we had a very successful show, and welcomed over 200 visitors to the show over the two days.
We also held a workshop in the mansion house, where we were able to demonstrate some basic bonsai techniques – and give advice to anyone who had a bonsai tree and was unsure about general care or further progression.
Visitors to the show were also able to purchase some starter trees and a wide range of Bonsai Tools and accessories.
Our resident club ceramic artist Dan Butler also had a selection of beautifully hand crafted bonsai pots for sale.
Our guest Judge for the Spring Show was Matthew from the Cardiff Bonsai Club – and he awarded prizes for the following categories
Best Deciduous Andy Smith ( Hawthorn )
Best Conifer Simon Evans ( Juniper )
Best Tree & Pot Combination Andy Smith ( Hawthorn )
Best In Show Andy Smith ( Hawthorn )
Best Shohin Gary Corefield ( Berberis )
Best Accent Laura Pettty ( Snowdops )
Best Kusamono Carly Butler
Lena’s Special Award Jerry ( Shohin Juniper )
Each year, we ask each visitor to take a voting slip and mark their own favourite tree for the show, and this was won by Delyth Reynolds for an exceptional Potentilla.
We would like to thank the Aberglasney Gardens Trust for their continued support, and for the assistance with the publicity of this event.
Our next show will be in October ( 14th 15th )
