The Bonsai Boys Display
At Henley Farm & Country Show
Henley Showground, Hambleden,
Oxfordshire. RG9 3AS
.
The Henley Farm & Country Show takes place in the village of Hambleden on the outskirts of Henley-On-Thames every year, in a very picturesque location. Unfortunately like many public events this show has been on hold for a couple of years, waiting for the worst of the pandemic to pass, and for things regain some resemblance of normality.
The Bonsai Boys, Nick Payne, Tim Back and Russ Wheeler are based in the Berkshire, Surrey area, and they have put on a display of bonsai at this event for many years. The display in previously years was housed alongside other exhibits in one large marquee, but because of current covid regulations the organisers asked exhibitors to provide their own this year. At this point the UK Bonsai Association stepped in to help the Boys. Mark and Ming lent a 4x8 metre tent, complete with display staging.
Everything came together on the day with a fantastic display of approximately twenty high quality trees. The event was blessed with sunshine leading to one of the best attended shows in many years. The bonsai tent was situated right in the middle of the show and therefore had a constant stream of visitors admiring the trees and asking questions, keeping everyone very busy. The new arrangement (having the display in its own dedicated tent) proved so successful that the same arrangement may happen at future shows.
All in all, a great day, with many members of the general public leaving the show with more knowledge of all things bonsai.
