Doncaster Bonsai Experience
& The National Shohin Exhibition

The Doncaster Bonsai Experience just moves from strength to strength, every year the attendance seems to grow with more and more professional traders, plus individuals selling everything you can imagine bonsai related, its an event not to be missed. The National Shohin show that takes place at this September event every year, with its seven trophy awards up for grabs are keenly fought for by the exhibitors with some very good displays. This years event was supported by Alex Rudd of European Bonsai Pot Collective putting on a display of top quality specimen pots and Mark Moreland of the UK Bonsai Association presenting a demonstration and talk on propagating and keeping mini bonsai. Refreshments were provided by the garden centre and the auction and other monies raised £983.50 all go to various charities. This event is free to visitors and has an amazing buzz about it, so if you did not attend this year, make sure you do next year, its worth a little bit of travelling for.
The Shohin Show incorporated approximately 21 displays, with this years judge being David Cheshire, the awards were as follows:
Best Shohin Display - D Hield
Best Mame Display - M Moreland
Best Chuhin Display - C Scott
Best Society Display - North East Lincs Bonsai Society
Best Evergreen Display - R McFarlane
Best DeciduousDisplay - C Scott
Best Accent - D Hield
