Suffolk Show,Trinity Park, Felixstowe Road, Ipswich, Suffolk. IP3 8UH.
The preparation at the show ground started on the Monday with building the stand and covering it with our favourite red and black. Members bought there trees, accent plants etc on the Tuesday as judging was 7am on the Wednesday morning the first day of the show. After a lot of moving of trees changing of accent plants we were all happy with the result and keeping our fingers crossed for the morning.
Although winning an award or gold medal is not the reason we do this every year it is a great lift for the members involved if we do. The main reason is to spread the word of our club and Bonsai to the public.
The results of the judging arrived late morning and to our delight we had a large gold and this was followed a short time later by the best in show silver plate for the under six meter displays.
So after a busy but very enjoyable show talking to some great people and hopefully raising the profile of Bonsai in our area time to clear up and head home with the boost we all get from this kind of event.
Thank you to the Suffolk Agriculture Association who put on the show giving us the opportunity to promote our hobby to nearly 100,000 people that attend the show over the two days and to the club members who give up there time. Planning for next year was being talked about as we were dismantling this years stand, we will see what we come up with.
