Doncaster Bonsai Experience
& The Spring Bonsai Exhibition
Markham Grange Nursery, Longlands Lane, Brodsworth, Doncaster, South Yorkshire. DN5 7XB.
The DBE which is held twice yearly, in March and September, incorporates the Spring Bonsai Exhibition in March and The National Shohin Exhibition in September.
Organised by Daryl Harris , John Skill and Dave Newman, this recent March event had more sellers, exhibitors and visitors than ever before.
Enthusiasts travelled from near and far to enjoy this ever increasing event in the North of England.
Complementing the exhibition and sales areas was a demonstration by Mr Rob Atkinson, director of the Aka Matsu School of Bonsai. Rob also judged 32 exhibits and awards were made as follows:-
Best Shohin-Mark Davies
Best Evergreen-Rod McFarlane
Best Accent-Rod McFarlane
Best Deadwood-Rod McFarlane
Best Deciduous - Peter and Ted Goodhead
Best in Show-John Pitt
John Hanby was there on the day signing copies of his recently published book The Practical Art of Bonsai.
Donations were made from the show to the following charities.
£100 to Red Cross Ukraine Appeal.
£100 to Cancer Research.
Please be aware that the forthcoming event on 25 September 2022 is already proving to be extremely popular. We already have a waiting list for sellers tables...(77 firm bookings so far).
The exhibition aspect at this event will include a new Kusamono category.
