Sutton Bonsai Show
RHS Wisley Gardens, Wisley Lane, Wisley, Surrey. GU23 6QB.
It's been along wait due to the pandemic, but at long last Sutton Bonsai Society are back staging a show at Wisley.
During the pandemic, RHS Wisley have been busy modernising the gardens and buildings, so for many of us. this was our first viewing of the new gardens. As soon as you leave the car park you are fully aware that things have massively changed at the location, the main entrance hall and buildings have all been rebuilt with a much roomier and modern feel to them. As one moves through the gardens and up the hill, you soon realise the old building where the bonsai show used to be held has been completely demolished and replaced with a state of the art building. The display of trees was impressive, high-lighting Sutton Bonsai Societies ability to not only produce top quality trees, but to also display them to a every high standard, complimented by some beautiful viewing stones. Both days had good weather, so a stroll round the main garden was recommended, this also allowed you to view more bonsai which are on permanent display in the main garden, curtsey of Peter Chan of Herons Bonsai Nursery. All in all a good day out and if you were not an RHS member, entry could be gained by using free tickets supplied by Twickenham Bonsai Society and UK Bonsai Association.
